Climate in the southwestern Mediterranean region

Martin-Puertas et al. haben am 15. Dezember 2010 auf climpast die interessante Studie Late Holocene climate variability in the southwestern Mediterranean region: an integrated marine and terrestrial geochemical approach (pdf-Format, 1,4 MB) veröffentlicht.

Sie führen im Abstract an:
A combination of marine (Alboran Sea cores, ODP 976 and TTR 300 G) and terrestrial (Zonar Lake, Andalucia, Spain) geochemical proxies provides a high-resolution reconstruction of climate variability and human influence in the southwestern Mediterranean region for the last 4000 years at inter-centennial resolution.

Precipitation decreases from 1400 to 700 cal yr BP coinciding with the Medieval Climate Anomaly (MCA). The end of MCA is marked by increase in the precipitation at 700-550 cal yr BP (AD 1250-1400) and cooling during the LIA.
